Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family with the benefits of community service. First of all the Selmons were brought up with Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on a farm near Eufala within Oklahoma as the youngest of the nine children they had. Also, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma on the field of football. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. In his time as Oklahoma's starting quarterback, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. In his role as a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given an award for his third year in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree as a teacher. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering during his college years. After graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next nine years playing with the Buccaneers. There were three times, he was named an All-Pro. He began his business career. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relations Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when the year 1982 was when the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the ten outstanding young people across the nation. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs in his college days. He played for the team of 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as the Associate Director of Sports. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented the Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma made the presentation.
